The
Department of French and Italian offers language instruction
at the elementary, intermediate levels, as well as advanced
courses in Francophone and French literature, business
French, French linguistics, and French and Francophone
cultures and civilizations.
The
department offers a degree program, the Bachelor of Arts
with a major in French. Four tracks are available:
Literature and culture
Business French
French linguistics
Generalist.
A minor in French is also available.
Undergraduate
majors in French attain a knowledge of the language and
the culture that can prepare them to teach at the secondary
level, to undertake postgraduate studies in French and,
to pursue a career in international business or in foreign
service.
Teacher’s
Certification is available through the College of Education.
The
department participates in the honors program and offers
honors sections of selected courses. Inquire with departmental
